Eligibility Criteria (Education & Age Limit)

1. Age Limit (As on 01.01.2027)

  • UR Candidates: Upper age limit is 42 years (Born not earlier than 02.01.1985).
  • OBC Candidates: Upper age limit is 45 years (Born not earlier than 02.01.1982).
  • SC/ST Candidates: Upper age limit is 47 years (Born not earlier than 02.01.1980).

Note: The lower limit of Date of Birth for all communities is 01.01.2009.

2. Educational Qualifications

  • Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP):
    • Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI in specified trades OR 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering.
  • Station Master & Goods Train Manager:
    • A Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent.
  • Junior Engineer (JE):
    • Three years Diploma in relevant engineering streams (Mechanical / Production / Automobile / Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Civil) from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Technicians:
    • Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI in relevant trades or Matriculation + Course completed Act Apprenticeship. For Tech-III/S&T (Telecom), 10+2 with Physics and Math is also accepted.
  • Junior Clerk cum Typist & Commercial Clerk cum Ticket Collector:
    • 12th (+2 Stage) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. Typing proficiency in English / Hindi on Computer is essential for Junior Clerk.

Selection Process & Examination Scheme

The recruitment process involves single-stage Computer Based Tests (CBT) followed by skill tests depending on the post.

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): There shall be a CBT for all category of posts.
    • Negative Marking: There will be a deduction of 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each wrong answer in the CBT.
  2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Conducted only for candidates who opt for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Station Master posts. There is no negative marking in the CBAT. Candidates must secure a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify.
  3. Typing Skill Test (TST): For the Junior Clerk Cum Typist post, candidates must type 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on a Personal Computer.
  4. Document Verification (DV) & Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates will be called for DV and must pass the requisite Medical Fitness Test prescribed by the Railway Administration.
